'After 91 days of bushfire activity, fires that affected communities within the Tambo complex - Wulgumerang, Gelantipy, W Tree, Buchan, Bruthen, Wairewa, Sarsfield - have been declared contained.
My enormous thanks, virtual back slapping and incredible pride of the fantastic work from all our staff, your staff who have been deployed, our contractors, volunteers, agency partners and communities.
Yes, there is still a going fire further east as we work to contain the peat slowly burning at Cape Conran, there may still be hot spots within containment lines, but the recent rain has been welcome in extinguishing fire edges and allowing crews to get into it with direct suppression.
Obviously, there is a very long road ahead with recovery efforts, hazardous tree treatment and rehab work, and we will do this, one day at a time.
But to all of you – thank you.
This is the reward for all of your collective efforts, in the field, in the IMT, keeping our critical business ticking away in the background, keeping me and each other smiling.
Continue to stay safe and happy.'
